Currently, it produces wine from 120 hectares of native mountain strains of Garnacha, planted decades ago on the slopes of the Moncayo foothills in unique red clay soil mixed with slate.
There is little organic matter in the soil, and it is not very deep. The vines are grown in bushes of native clones oriented towards the southwest.
Future Goals
Our wines are made exclusively with native Garnacha grapes from old vines (between 40 and 100 years old).
The main markets are Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Australia.
Bodegas Alto Moncayo is currently undergoing a process of controlled growth without losing its small winery, specialist philosophy for high quality wines with a strong and distinct personality.
It is characterized by exalting worldwide Spanish wines and the area where it is located: Campo de Borja. The medium and long-term expectations are to consolidate its position as a prestigious winery and world leader in Garnacha, with unique world-class, high quality wines.
Thus, year after year, our reputation is becoming increasingly established by the appraisals and comments given by some of the most prestigious national and international wine critics and their publications:
e.g. The Wine Advocate de Robert Parker, Wine Spectator Magazine, Stephen Tanzer´s Internacional Wine Cellar, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Guía Peñín, Anuario de los Vinos de El País, Guía Gourmets…
